Jadon Sancho Transfer to Chelsea? Is He Really Leaving Man Utd?

Now that the entire transfer window is over, football fans find it very interesting to discuss what happened in this period. Some transfers happened unexpectedly, others didn’t, and some included controversial matters.

While not really that controversial, the Jadon Sancho transfer still attracted much attention. There may be a few reasons for this. I tried to focus only on facts to show you how United loaned Jadon Sancho to Chelsea.

Three Years in United and the Spark of Sancho’s Departure

Sancho was part of Watford and Man City during his youth career a bit long ago. The first team in his senior career was Borussia Dortmund. In fact, the young Englishman performed very well for this German team.

In 137 games, Sancho scored 50 goals and made as many as 64 assists. It is quite odd that he never got to prove his true talent playing for the Red Devils. In other words, the Englishman scored only 12 goals and made six assists in 82 games.

Most recently, Sancho was not a starter in United’s games. Instead of him, we could see Amad, Garnacho, and Rashford playing as wingers. This may be the harsh truth, but several clubs jumped in to save the day for Sancho. Among a couple of them, the main candidate for the Jadon Sancho transfer was Chelsea.

What Other Clubs Raced for Sancho?

The history almost repeated itself and we almost saw the initial Jadon Sancho Borussia Dortmund transfer once again. However, this did not happen. One of the main reasons for this was Snacho’s transfer fee, which was too big for the Bundesliga budget.

Apart from BVB, Juventus also said they were willing to bring the Englishman to their squad. To be more specific, the Italians got their eyes on Sancho even in the winter transfer window but gave up soon after.

During this period, the mainstream media continuously reported that one Premier League club spotted Sancho and wished to sign him. Many speculated that we would see the Jadon Sancho Liverpool transfer. Still, as you know by now, that club was Chelsea.

Jadon Sancho Transfer Fee and Chelsea Loan

At the beginning of September this year, Chelsea officially announced that Sancho was to arrive at Stamford Bridge. This was one of the last days of the summer transfer window.

Needless to say, this loan did not require Chelsea to pay the full price for the Englishman. Yet, the Blues had the obligation to buy worth around £25-30m, as media reports.

Another important thing to mention is that Chelsea and Man Utd may swap players. More precisely, Sancho went to Chelsea, and Sterling may now join Man Utd. We still don’t know how this will turn out, but this may be a great opportunity for both clubs to let go of players who don’t really fit.
