The Euro 2024 is finally over after one month of spectacular football. It was Spain that won the trophy only to become the nation with the most Euro titles. In this national competition, the unity of the teams was especially important.
Yet, how did the top Euro 2024 players profit from their good performances? One of the best things for footballers is to go up on the transfer market. Well, the following players surely did and will continue to do so in the near future.
Diogo Costa
Diogo Costa is already a well-known player. At Euro 2024, he had some blissful moments that included stopping three penalties. Plus, Costa’s fearless defence after Pepe’s mistake led him to become one of the fans’ favourite Portugal players. After the tournament, Costa could easily move from Porto.
Tijjani Reijnders
Another player who’s already in a famous club (Milan), Reijnders, played impressively at the 2024 Euro Championship. His ability to carry the ball through opponent lines with ease left enough space for Gako and Depay to run wider.
Together with Jerdy Schouten, this Dutch play makes a great complementary duo. Chances are that Milan may only be a stepping stone for Reijnders after this tournament.
Nico Williams
Being part of the winning Euro 2024 lineup, Williams may not be the very best player in Spain’s squad. But he definitely had a blast and left many fans and critics speechless.
The 21-year-old Spaniard showed terrific dribbling skills and unbelievable speed. This made the opposing teams have mostly two men guarding Williams, leaving enough room for the Spanish midfielders to operate with more freedom. On top of everything, Williams even scored the winning goal in the finals.
Marc Guehi
Guehi was one of the Euro 2024 players to appear a bit unexpectedly in England’s provisional squad. In other words, Jones was one of the centre-backs, and Maguire was to fill in the second spot.
After some doubts, Southgate gave Guehi a chance, and it turned out to be the right choice. Since the very first game, all the way to the finals, Guehi’s calmness meant a lot to England’s defence. So, the young Englishman took Maguire’s place and single-handedly made his transfer value much bigger.
Giorgi Mamardashvili
Euro 2024 men’s football saw a few debut teams, one of which was Georgia. At first, many football lovers thought that this team would just show up and go home right after the first three games.
This was not the case as the Crusaders reached the Round of 16. Several players had a major contribution to this. But the aggressive and explosive goalkeeper, Mamardashvili, was one of the main Euro 2024 players to help his team.
The Georgian is a great shoot-stopper. He’s proven this in many games in this competition. Still, one of his most wonderful plays had Portugal threaten Georgia and Mamardashvili keep a clean sheet. This victory was the decisive one for the Crusades to advance to the knockout phase.
